Working Together for Wetlands: A Special Joint Webinar
Climate change together with pollution and biodiversity loss create unprecedented dangers for lakes and wetlands which require stronger collaboration between parties than ever before. Our next Living Lakes Academy webinar brings together youth members from various organizations for a special joint presentation.
The Convention on Wetlands Youth Working Group, Youth Engaged in Wetlands, Wetlands International, SPREP, IUCN, Living Lakes Network and the Global Nature Fund join forces to host this motivational event that showcases innovative approaches and traditional wisdom and community participation for wetland restoration.
This webinar marks a special edition of the Living Lakes Academy, as we join forces with fellow youth and wetland organizations to co-host a session that is part of the wider series “Paving the Way to Victoria Falls – Inspiring Action for Wetlands COP15.” By merging our Living Lakes webinar series with this global youth-led initiative, we aim to contribute to a shared journey leading up to the 15th Ramsar Convention COP in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe (July 2025) — bringing together knowledge, community, and youth leadership for wetlands.
Why You Should Join
The webinar titled “Technology Approaches, Traditional Knowledge and Community Engagement in Wetland Restoration” presents multiple youth-led initiatives worldwide that focus on wetland conservation through technology and traditional knowledge systems.
We’ll look at cutting-edge tools and innovations used in restoration, and showcase youth-led projects that use technology in creative and impactful ways. But we’ll also take a step back to reflect on the wisdom of traditional and Indigenous knowledge systems, and how these are being meaningfully integrated into conservation work by young leaders. The webinar will share stories from the ground — where restoration is not only about recovering nature, but also about respecting cultural heritage and empowering communities.
A Space for Voices That Matter
This session exists beyond standard online conventions. Young people dedicated to wetlands conservation gather on this global stage to share ideas and express themselves. Throughout the past several months the youth-led series evolved into an educational platform for knowledge exchange and future-oriented wetland visions among participants.
COP15 approaches while this platform serves as a link between young professionals and students and scientists and activists and local leaders who want to contribute to wetland policy development. Wetland conservation professionals at every experience level can participate in this discussion without restriction.
The webinar provides free access to everyone who attends through an online platform. We invite all those who care about wetlands together with their dependent communities and ecosystems to participate in this event.
💬 Support our mission by sharing the invitation with others to participate. We will construct an influential power together.
