Water scarcity is one of the biggest challenges in Jordan. Simple investments in sustainability and green energy like water treatment with green filters can solve worsening national problems. Such projects raise locals awareness of sustainable water solutions by using the treated water for agricultural in communities.
Increasing population uses more ressources incl. Water. Animals, plants and ecosystems are suffering more and more. Wetlands are specially affected. Engineers and environmentalists created the concept of “constructed wetlands”, which are man-made and intended to function in the same manner as a natural wetland. Such “conctructed wetlands” provides habitats for various species, helps to recycle flood water, treats wastewater producing e.g. water for agregation.
The Living Lakes Network is an international partnership of 130 members working in more than 60 countries to protect and restore the lakes and wetlands of the world.
